Cheaters Never Prosper

"Everybody in the game does it. It is impossible to know just how much of an advantage it gives you, although people are willing to fracture rules and honor in an attempt to find out. It is an artificial enhancer of your natural talent that offers you a competitive advantage and lopsides the playing field. Are we talking about steroids here or stealing signs?

If you are outraged by Barry Bonds and call him a sinister fraud, then you have to think the same of champion cheat Bill Belichick today if you want to be consistent."
Dan Lebatard, The Miami Herald

Exactly.

A cheat is a cheat, no matter if you're doing in by taking illegal performance-enhancing drugs or videotaping an opponents signs.

Cheaters never prosper.

And the Patriots certainly won't.

The National Football League fined New England Patriots Coach Bill Belichick $500,000 yesterday, and the team will forfeit its first-round draft pick in 2008 if it makes the playoffs. If it doesn't make the playoffs, it will lose its second- and third-round picks. The New England Patriots must also pay a $250,000 fine.

Good for you, Roger Goodell. Good for you.

“This episode represents a calculated and deliberate attempt to avoid longstanding rules designed to encourage fair play and promote honest competition on the playing field,”

Hmmmm ... sound like anyone else you know?
